Ghost Spectre vs AtlasOS: The Final Verdict for 2025 (Benchmarks & Gaming Test)

Ghost Spectre or AtlasOS? Which custom Windows 11 is better for gaming in 2025? We tested FPS, RAM usage, and privacy to help you decide.

If you have a low-end PC, you’ve probably heard of them. Ghost Spectre and AtlasOS. They are the two titans of the "Modded Windows" world.

Both promise higher FPS and lower input lag. But they take completely different approaches. Ghost Spectre is famous for its "Superlite" ISOs full of features, while AtlasOS focuses on open-source transparency.

I’ve used both on my daily driver. Today, I’m going to settle the debate. Here is the final verdict for 2025.

1. Installation Process

  • Ghost Spectre: It's a custom ISO. You have to wipe your drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. It comes with a handy "Ghost Toolbox" to install browsers and drivers instantly.

  • AtlasOS: It’s a "Playbook." You install standard Windows first, then run the Atlas script. It modifies your existing system.

  • Winner: AtlasOS. It’s safer because you download the official Windows ISO from Microsoft first. No risk of hidden malware in pre-modded ISOs.

2. RAM Usage (Idle)

I tested both on a laptop with 8GB RAM.

  • Stock Windows 11: 2.8 GB usage.

  • Ghost Spectre (Superlite): 1.1 GB usage.

  • AtlasOS (2025 Update): 1.3 GB usage.

  • Winner: Ghost Spectre. If you have 4GB RAM or less, Ghost Spectre is still the king of lightweight.

3. Gaming Performance (Valorant & CS2)

This is what matters. Does it boost FPS?

  • Ghost Spectre: 155 FPS avg. Very snappy, but occasionally I faced crashes with Windows Update disabled.

  • AtlasOS: 152 FPS avg. Slightly lower, but the frame times (1% lows) were more stable.

  • Winner: Tie. Both will give you a significant boost over stock Windows.

4. Security & Updates

  • Ghost Spectre: Updates are paused/disabled by default. Windows Defender is often removed. Great for speed, bad for security.

  • AtlasOS: Keeps Windows Defender (optional) and Security Updates. Much better for a daily driver PC.

Comparison Table

Feature Ghost Spectre AtlasOS
Type Custom ISO AME Playbook

Security Risky (No Defender) Safe (Open Source)
Best For Dedicated Gaming Rig Daily Driver / Work

Conclusion: Which One Should You Pick?

  • Choose Ghost Spectre if: You have a dedicated gaming PC (not for banking/work), you have 4GB RAM or less, and you want the absolute lowest processes.

  • Choose AtlasOS if: You use your PC for work, school, and gaming. You want the performance boost but still need security and stability.

For me personally? I switched to AtlasOS in 2025 because I need my PC to be secure.
